Sewing with silk

Maybe not to everyone’s taste, but I am proud of my new tunic. I am attending a sewing workship attached to a brilliant fabric shop in Islington. Being self taught, it is useful to get advice from more thoroughly trained tailors when it comes to amending patterns. Ray Stitch in Essex Road offers a huge variety of classes for all levels.

The fabric used for this piece comes from a place definitely worth seeking out when the sale is on. In fact, that is the only time it is open. It is the Camden warehouse of Soho-based fabric shop Cloth House. The silk is very heavy, the best quality I have ever used for a piece, which made it really easy to sew.

I can get hotter for all I care. I am prepared.
