If it wasn’t quite so far away, I would be in Inverness like a shot. The first ever Loch Ness Knitting festival kicks off on 29 September. It was inspired by the hugely successful Danish Strikkefestival.
See www.strikkefestival.dk for a long list of techniques that are being taught on the Danish island of Fano – some even in English or Dutch for the international attendees. The Strikkefestival was founded in 2005 and has grown from a few hundred knitters to 10,000 now!
The Scottish version at www.lochnessknitfest.com shows a number of workshops on offer – from ‘Steeking, the painless cut’ to ‘The correct Moebius cowl’ and even offers the chance of enjoying a knitting cruise on Loch Ness.
I joined the mailing list for now, and, maybe, next year I will be there?
