A bouquet of cowslips

My mother used the little blue jug with the white polka dots only once every year – as a vase for bouquets of these early spring flowers that I used to bring home from a walk.

To me, cowslips still mean that spring has arrived.

Today the lovely flowers even grow in my own garden in Austria. And the blue jug remains the prettiest way to arrange them.

The Tyrolean name sounds so much more charming than the proper Latin one. Thanks for reminding me.
