Trying out Fair Isle patterns

Before Christmas I visited a wonderful knitting shop in Islington, London. As well as selling a large range of yarns and knitting patterns, the staff at Loop provide excellent advice.

I came away with 25g yarns in three different colours of Jamieson’s Shetland Spindrift, made on the Shetland islands out of 100% local wool.

In these wristwarmers, I tried out Fair Isle patterns to see how changing the colourways would change the overall appearance. I was astonished how far the yarn runs. The 75g were enough to knit not two wristwarmers, also to be worn as fingerless gloves, but I ended up with three (showing the better two in the photo above).
